Hop Shing Dessert

Chinese dessert shops often have their unique small kitchens, enabling instant mixing and pairing of various ingredients.
Good reputation from public

Traditional Teochew-style dessert shops in Hong Kong are becoming scarce, and “Hop Shing Dessert” in Kowloon City is one of the few remaining ones. With over 50 years of history, their desserts are generously portioned, typically featuring 3 or more ingredients, creating a rich and varied taste profile. Among their offerings, the lotus seeds is the famous one, earning them the nickname “Lotus Seed King”. The owner pays meticulous attention to the lotus seed processing, handwashing and peeling them daily, then simmering them with rock sugar for 6 to 7 hours, resulting in a tender and velvety texture.

One of their unique items is the Teochew special jelly bean “Tapioca Mochi”. “Tapioca Mochi” is made from Teochew-specific “Cheng O Flour” (a type of rice flour) and water, rolled into small balls, translucent in appearance, with chewy texture, making it very popular!
