Founded as a street stall 70 years ago, Chan Chai Koi Choi Shui is a traditional herbal tea shop that has witnessed the development of Kowloon City. Its signature Rorippa Indica Tea, known as “Koi Choi Shui” in Cantonese, is well acclaimed by the local residents. Many of them have been patrons since childhood, taken by parents to drink it as a cure to cool down the body’s heat. The brown-hued tea has a sweet aftertaste and is served with a small bowl of fine salt. According to the shop assistant, adding salt is not only for seasoning, but also enhances the cooling effect.
