When you miss the glorious days of Kai Tak Airport, why not visit Kai Tak Runway Park? Covering an area of 2.82 hectares, the park is located at the former runway’s end and has been open to the public since June 2014. Residents not only can see the yellow and black checkerboard pattern, once used as a landing guide at Kai Tak Airport, but also discover various aviation design elements. For instance, the design featuring “13” commemorates the airport’s famed “Runway 13,” and there are meaningful resting seats commemorating the last flight from Kai Tak to London.

You must take pictures with airplanes when you visit here! The decommissioned Government Flying Service aircraft “Jetstream 41” is exhibited on the park’s large lawn, allowing visitors to get a close look at the aircraft’s grace. Additionally, residents can view precious historical photos and follow the “Kai Tak Timeline” to step back in time and see the history of former airport.

Kai Tak Runway Park is a place that combines leisure and conservation. If you want to relax on weekends, consider picnicking here. Sitting on the large lawn, gazing at Victoria Harbour, admiring Lion Rock, Kowloon Peak and Devil’s Peak in the distance, it’s undoubtedly a great choice!
